Cisco routers have come a long way. In today’s market, you have a few choices between the router that can suite your needs. The 1900 series, 2900 series and the 3900 series. Likewise to Cisco switches, the higher you move up on the model series, the more it will do for you.

Cisco 1900 Series
The 1900 series router is the base line for the 1900 series routers. It comes equipped with 2 Gigabit integrated WAN ports, 2 enhanced High-Speed WAN interface card (EHWIC) slots that can host 2 single wide or 1 double wide EHWIC module, 1 USB port, a default maximum flash memory of 256 MB,  512MB of DDR2 DRAM, POE (External) only on AC models. If you want a little more power, then you may want to look into the Cisco 1941 series. It has the same 2 WAN ports, but it comes with an integrated service module slot, also has a larger max flash memory that supports up to 8 GB. You can also increase the DRAM to 2.5 GB over the stock 512 MB that comes standard.
