WS-C3850-24XS-S 10G Switch

Cisco’s WS-C3850-24XS-S switch provides 24 10G SFP+ ports in a 1RU form factor. This powerful 10G switch supports a variety of expansion modules, including the C3850-NM-4-10G, C3850-NM-8-10G, C3850-NM-2-40G. This uniquely equipped 3850 is well suited to dense, high throughput network applications. As an SFP+ port can support both 10G and 1G transceivers, this switch allows the integration of a variety of device types of varying speeds. The stacking support of the 3850 line provides 480 Gbps of internal stack bandwidth. This allows stacking between 10G switches like the WS-C3850-24XS-S and 1G copper switches, eliminating the bottlenecks associated with single trunk ports.

In addition to the 10G ports and stacking support, the 3850 series switches also have a built in wireless controller, providing support for up to 100 access points. This can eliminate the need for additional hardware such as AIR-CT when deploying a campus network. Stacking 3850 switches increases the overall number of access points supported by the stack, making this a highly scalable solution.

WS-C3850-24XS-S Transceiver Compatibility Matrix

The following table lists the transceivers compatible with the 3850-24XS-S switch. This table only includes optics that are compatible with the base switch. When using the C3850-NM-2-40G addon module, this switch gains support for a number of 40G transceivers, including the QSFP-40G-SR4 and QSFP-40G-LR4.
