Cisco ASR-9001-S

The Cisco ASR 9001-S is a service provider edge router with a fabric capable of delivering 60 Gbps in full duplex, and can be upgraded to provide up to 120 Gbps. As a member of the ASR 9000 family of routers, the 9001-S is built on the same Cisco IOS XR image as the other devices in this product line, making it easy to standardize the software and features between the 9001-S and other ASR platforms already in your network.

The ASR 9001-S hardware platform comes equipped with four built-in 10 Gigabit SFP ?ports, a GPS input, management interfaces, and two Modular Port Adapter bays. With the default licensing on the 9001-S, only two SFP ports and 1 of the 2 MPA bays are enabled – additional upgrade licenses can be purchased from Cisco to enable the remaining hardware features.

By adding ASR Modular Port Adapters to one of the two bays on the ASR 9001-S, this router can be upgraded to provide twenty 1 Gigabit Ethernet ports, two 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports, four 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports, or one 40 Gigabit Ethernet port.
